Recently, the introduction of new technology by the Southern Power Grid Qujing Malong Power Supply Bureau has taken the means of treating three-phase imbalance in the transformer substation to a new level.

In recent years, the construction of new power systems and the access of a large number of distributed power sources such as photovoltaics have changed the structure and operating characteristics of distribution networks, transforming them from pure load characteristics to dual characteristics of random power sources and loads. The problems of low voltage and three-phase imbalance in transformer substations have become increasingly prominent, leading to high losses and serious equipment overloads in transformer substations, directly affecting the power supply capacity of the power grid. In order to effectively solve this problem, the Malong Power Supply Bureau, after careful analysis and research, has reported on the development of a comprehensive governance and coordination control device for the transformer substation to address three-phase load imbalance.

It is reported that the device mainly installs a main switch as the main control unit at the low-voltage side of the first section of the transformer substation, and installs several phase-changing switches on the user side of the branch. The device has reliable phase-to-phase short-circuit prevention technology, adopts a combination of hardware interlocking and software interlocking to prevent multiple phase sequences from being connected simultaneously. At the same time, the device can realize information aggregation in the transformer substation, make local decisions, and control through real-time or timed load data acquisition and transmission via complete wireless means. Once three-phase load imbalance is detected, the main switch analyzes the three-phase imbalance situation and gives phase-changing decisions, and the branch switch executes remote control commands to achieve three-phase load balancing."

"The low-voltage output of Zhangjiatian Village No. 1 public transformer substation has two branches, with large fluctuations in electricity load. The three-phase current imbalance degree reaches 76.35%. The currents of each phase alternate between high and low within a day. It is difficult to solve the problem of load three-phase imbalance through manual periodic phase adjustment, as load three-phase imbalance often triggers single-phase overload tripping or low voltage. With the arrival of the summer high temperature and tobacco curing season, accompanied by the increasing frequency of high-power electrical appliances such as tobacco curing barns and induction cookers by a large number of electricity customers, the three-phase load imbalance degree in the transformer substation will be even greater, causing problems such as low voltage for end customers, increased line losses in the transformer substation, and increased risk of equipment failure, affecting normal customer electricity use. The application of the comprehensive governance and coordination control device in the transformer substation has reduced the work pressure on grassroots employees, can adjust the three-phase load imbalance phenomenon in the transformer substation in real-time and effectively, improve power supply quality, and ensure safe and stable electricity consumption for customers." Next, the Malong Power Supply Bureau will continue to monitor the three-phase load imbalance conditions in the transformer substation, timely grasp the three-phase load imbalance and load distribution in the transformer substation, and conduct actual measurements on user loads. For distribution transformer substations with an imbalance degree greater than 50%, the comprehensive governance and coordination control device for the transformer substation will be installed in a targeted manner. It is expected to carry out demonstration applications of the comprehensive governance and coordination control device in 20 transformer substations, continuously improve the power supply capacity of the transformer substation, and lay a solid infrastructure guarantee for the safe and reliable power supply of low-voltage distribution networks.
